1. Perception/Sensing Layer This layer contains sensors, actuators, and devices. Sensors or actuators accept data (physical or environmental parameters), process it, and emit it over the network.

2. Network Layer This layer shows how data moves throughout the application. A Data Acquiring System (DAS) and an Internet Gateway make up this layer.
